Bishop Richard L Johnson and

Pastor Adele y Johnson

Bishop and Pastor Adele began Destiny in their home in 1988 with just their immediate family. When you join our church, you join the family and they hope you feel the unconditional love of God from the moment you arrive. It is their vision to see our church full of Developed, Empowered, Inspired, Happy People who know Jesus Christ, make Him known and are committed to a life of service to God and the World!

Born and raised in New Jersey, Bishop was summoned from East Orange to El Paso by military draft in 1965, where he met and married Pastor Carr’s youngest daughter, Adele Yvonne Carr on January 13, 1968. Bishop served his father-in-law, as organist, minister of music, regional assistant Sunday School Superintendent and a assistant pastor until the word of God came for his change. He faithfully rendered nineteen years of service in that ministry as God birthed the vision of Destiny in him. In January of 1988, after fasting and praying, the Lord confirmed to him that the time was now and El Paso was the place.  God has gifted Bishop Johnson with miracles of faith, healing, a heart of compassion and anointed preaching.  He has been preaching more than 50 years. Bishop was ordained in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World National Conference in New Orleans on August 7, 1991 by Bishop James A. Johnson. However, under divine guidance, the church board of directors unanimously elected independent non-denominational status in 1995.

Co-Pastor Adele has been blessed with a legacy of being a fourth generation in ministry.  Having been raised in the church from a child, she heard the call to minister at the age of 17.  Co-pastor is passionate about using God’s word to nurture strong families to love God with all their heart, mind, soul and strength!  She and Bishop are blessed to have three adult children and four grandchildren. Together they were ordained by Bishop T.D. Jakes at the Potter’s House of Dallas, TX on October 12, 2002 and remain submitted to his covering as members of The Potter’s House International Pastor’s Alliance.

CORE BELIEFS

The Bible
is the inspired and infallible Word of God and the final authority for faith and life for all mankind.

God. There is one triune God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, who is creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existent.  The Bible teaches us the godhead consists of these three of one substance with identical qualities and attributes.—St. John 1:1-3; 4:24; 5:18; 10:30.

Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He died on the cross, was resurrected, ascended into heaven, where He is now our High Priest and Advocate at the right hand of the Father. We have a blessed hope of His personal, visible return to earth to receive to Himself His Church purchased by his own blood.

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and is present in the world to draw all men to God. The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, convict men of sin, regenerate, indwell, instruct, and empower godly living.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a promise to every believer that asks with the evidence of speaking in tongues according to Acts 2:4, Acts 19 and Luke 11:13.  The Spirit baptism provides power and guidance to believers for victorious living, and understanding of spiritual truth. According to Jude 20, this power is accessed and developed through praying in tongues.

Salvation is a free gift of God offered to man by grace received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose atoning blood was shed on the cross for the forgiveness and cleansing of sin for all who believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ. St. John 1:12-13 and I John 5:1 and Acts 16:30-31

The Church is composed of all such persons, who through faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit, are baptized, and united together in the body of Christ of which He is the head.

Baptism and Communion. Water baptism by immersion is an ordinance of Scripture as a personal testimony of faith, death to sin and the resurrection to a new life. It should immediately follow accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Lord’s Supper, also known as Communion is a sacred ordinance and memorial of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ.   It was instituted by Jesus Christ with his disciples as part of his new covenant in which he took unleavened bread symbolic of His sinless broken body and wine to symbolic of His shed blood.—I Cor. 11:24-26 and 10:16

Tithing and Offering is revealed in scripture as God’s plan to finance his church. Tithing was divinely instituted by God before the Law of Moses and continues as a principle practice in the Kingdom of God today.—Malachi 3:10 To “tithe” is to offer to God one-tenth of your gross income to the church where you are planted so that you and your community of faith can prosper in establishing the Kingdom in the hearts of men/women. Offering is determined as purposed in your heart as a tangible expression of your gratitude for your blessings.

Women In the Ministry. The Holy Spirit ministers through whomever He will. Acts 2:17-18

Victory and Prosperity of Believers – All true believers have access to victory in life through the grace and power of God. It is the will of God for all His children to prosper in all areas of their lives. God delights in the prosperity of His people.  III Jn. 2

Marriage is a provision of God whereby a naturally born man and a naturally born woman enter into a lifelong relationship through a marriage ceremony that is recognized by the Church and legally sanctioned by the state. Marriage provides the family with unity of purpose, fellowship, procreation and perpetuity of faith.
